Elliptical heads  are widely used in petroleum, electronics, chemical and other industries. Investigations have found that the selection rate of elliptical heads is high. Why?

Oval heads are generally used in mainland designs. The elliptical head tends to be rounded under the action of internal pressure and flattened under the action of external pressure is just the opposite of the cylinder connected to it. That is to say, opposite radial displacements are produced at the connection part, and mutual reinforcement cancels most of the radial displacements, so that the circumferential compression (tensile) stress of the seal head is reduced. When the elliptical head is connected to the cylinder, there is no convex change. It has a continuous bending radius and does not produce stress; therefore, it can be used in higher pressure vessels.

Relatively speaking, the elliptical head is better in force than other heads. The elliptical head of the same diameter is deeper than the disc shape, and the manufacturing difficulty is slightly greater than that of the disc shape, and it consumes more materials. The cost is higher, and the difference in volume is still small.
